I would have to say the two profiles that meant the most to me were Tommie Bass (Folk Doctor) and The rev. Lavada Durst, a.k.a. Dr. Hepcat (Disc Jockey). With Bass’s profile the themes that stuck with me were that he was willing to help other people without expecting to get paid for it. He genially wanted to help the people that came to him. On top of that he almost seemed insulted when people assumed that they were going to have to pay him. I see a lot of this helping attitude with my church’s youth group and the community serves work they do. The idea of helping other people because it’s a nice thing to do every once in awhile is something I wish the world had more of. In Dr. Hepcat I saw the theme or idea of passion. Now a day’s people are worker bees and don’t care about the company they work for, I get that. But Dr. Hepcat put passion into everything he did; now I would say that I think he enjoyed what he did as well but even so he was passionate about it. I hope that I can have passion for what I do and how I live because if I can, life will be just that much better in the long run. Now both of these ideas are good, but I hope that I can connect the two and be both passionate while at the same time help others. That’s my hope at least.
